Gas turbines
A gas turbine is a piece of equipment that rotates a turbine by using the hot gas produced by burning compressed air and fuel, and is core item of equipment for combined cycle and cogeneration power plants. With the growing interest in environmental preservation and power generation load issues in recent years, it is expected that the demand for gas turbines with high performance, reliability, fuel diversity and toxic emissions reduction will increase. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is recognized for its technological prowess in producing and supplying Korea’s first gas turbine, which is the peak of technological development. We undertook the national project for the development of a large H-class gas turbine in 2013 and plans to develop our own model by 2020. The gas turbine model currently under development will be supplied to the Gimpo Cogeneration Power Plant, which is run by Korea Western Power, and is scheduled to start commercial operation in 2023. Furthermore, we are developing follow-up models with the latest specifications to preemptively reflect market changes, as well as a medium-size 100MW model.

Steam Turbines
A steam turbine is a piece of heavy equipment that rotates blades with the high-temperature, high- pressure steam generated by diverse heat sources – such as boilers for power generation, heat recovery steam generators, nuclear steam generators, and industrial steam boilers – in order to convert into rotational energy. There are 3 types of steam turbines, namely, high-pressure turbines, intermediate-pressure turbines, and low-pressure turbines, to maximize efficiency. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction began manufacturing steam turbines for the Seocheon power plant (200MW) in 1978, and currently designs and manufactures its own steam turbines to meet the needs of all types of power plants including combined cycle power plant, cogeneration power plant, thermal power plant, and nuclear power plant. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction applies an online quality control system for every process in the manufacturing of steam turbines, from materials procurement to finished product. The know-how we have acquired in the manufacturing and installation of steam turbines to date is applied to design models with ever-higher reliability.

Generators
A generator is a core item of equipment of a power plant that produces electricity using the kinetic energy generated by turbines. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has been expanding the supply area to all power generation sectors, from small bio power generation to ultra-large nuclear power generation, ever since it supplied power generators to the Seocheon power plant in 1978 for the first time. Currently, we are building a comprehensive product line-up ranging from 90MW class small-size generators to 1500MW class ultra-large size generators. All of the generators in the lineup can be applied to various types of power generation, including nuclear power plants, combined cycle (gas turbine) power plants, small and large thermal power plants, and bio-diesel power plants.
The company has secured a range of products characterized by their excellent efficiency thanks to its long years of experience and continuous technological development, and supplies many generators to both the domestic and overseas power generation markets.

Boiler
A boiler is used to burn fossil fuel to produce high-temperature, high-pressure steam needed in power generation plants or other industries. It consists of the steam pressure vessel, a circulation system, a combustion unit where the fuel is burned, a ventilation unit supplying the combustion air and discharging the exhaust gas and other auxiliary units.
The technology and experience we have gained while designing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining and repairing boilers for clients worldwide have enabled us to build an extensive boiler portfolio that includes large-capacity drum, once-through and fluidized-bed models for power plants as well as various models for industrial use. We also boast the technology to design eco-friendly models that are highly efficient and capable of removing toxic substances from exhaust gas.

Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)
The Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is an eco-friendly combined cycle power plant that generates electricity by turning gas turbines using synthesis gas fuel (Co, H2), which gasifies and refines coal, and by collecting heat emitted as the exhaust gas of gasifiers and gas turbines. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction completed the EPC project for a 300MW class IGCC demonstration plant for the first time in Korea based on its analysis and basic conceptual design of gasifiers, synthesis gas coolers and gas refining facilities, as well as gasification reaction analysis which corresponds to the core technology of the IGCC. Currently, we are vigorously pushing ahead with research and gasification technology utilization to secure the operational reliability of the existing Taean IGCC gasification plant.
Waste to Energy (WtE)
Waste to Energy (WtE) is an eco-friendly incineration plant that minimizes pollution caused by landfills by maximizing resource recycling and energy production on the basis of sustainable waste management. Doosan Lentjes’ proven stoker-type WtE technology ensures efficiency and operational reliability, while the produced combustion gas is safely processed and discharged by the CircocleanTM combustion gas purification system in order to comply with the strictest air pollutant discharge standard.

Air Pollution Control
Air pollution control systems are used to remove air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust contained in the flue gas emitted from thermal power plants or industrial facilities. Environmental facilities are installed from the rear to the stack of boilers. An air pollution control system consists of a DeNOx system (SCR) that removes nitrogen oxides by contacting flue gas with a catalyst, an Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) that uses electrostatic force to remove dust, and a Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) unit that removes sulfur dioxide from the flue gas by atomizing alkaline solutions such as limestone slurry or seawater into the flue gas. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is domestically and globally recognized for its OEM technology and delivery experience.
Flue Gas Desulfurizers (FGD)
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has applied the “wall rings and tray system” to provide eco-friendly technology, and developed a high-efficiency FGD using advanced absorber technology. In addition, our diverse product line-up enables it to provide optimized products that consider the regional characteristics of each power plant.
- Wet limestone FGD
- Seawater FGD
- CFB dry FGD
DeNOx system (SCR)
DeNOx system is used to reduce the amount of NOx in exhaust gas. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction supplies high-performance DeNOx system to thermal power plants around the world. The Company’s technology, expert knowledge and experience in designing and manufacturing boilers enable it to supply customized DeNOx system that meet each customer’s specific requirements.
Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP)
An Electric precipitator is used to remove fine dust from combustion gas or exhaust gas during process by using electrostatic force. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction helps its customers to comply with the global environmental regulations by using the electrostatic precipitator (ESP).
Ash treatment facility
An ash treatment facility is used to process ash collected from the bottom of boilers, fuel economizers, air preheaters and electrostatic precipitators after coal combustion. Ash is divided into bottom ash and fly ash; and there are various types of facilities depending on the type and method of ash treatment.

Heat exchanger
A heat exchanger is used to protect the core equipment of a power plant and increase efficiency by condensing and reheating the steam used by turbines. A heat exchanger is composed of a steam surface condenser which condenses the steam discharged from the rear end of the turbine and converts it back to water; a feed water heater which reduces the amount of heat required by a boiler by heating the water supplied to it; a deaerator which protects power generation facilities and increases efficiency by removing dissolved oxygen from boiler feed water; and a steam surface condenser cleaning facility and a foreign matter removal facility (CTCS/DF), the latter of which maintains the performance of the former by removing the foreign matter flowing directly into it and cleaning its tube. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is a leading company in the field of heat exchangers that boasts advanced OEM technological capability and a long project history that began with North Jeju construction work back in 1982 and now totals some 250 successfully executed projects.
